CASD trains community health workers to serve deprived populations and hard-to-reach communities with few or no medical personnel. This is CASDs way of improving the maternal health situation of women and teen mothers in these communities. Training runs for a period of one(1) year, and candidates are selected through a clinical process targeting motivated young persons who are enrolled or not enrolled in formal institutions but that show an interest in serving low-resource communities or communities with few or no health workers. The course content is designed to provide these health workers with the necessary skills needed to assist in delivering healthcare where there are limited resources.
